The fourth instalment to the Arland series of Atelier games was a surprise announcement last year, coming to be known as Atelier Lulua ~The Scion of Arland~. Now KOEI Tecmo have given the title and official release date for the Western market.
Atelier Lulua will be launching May 21st in the US and May 24th in Europe.
You can read the full press info below straight from the horses’ mouth:
KOEI TECMO Europe today revealed that the latest entry in GUST Studio’s cherished Atelier franchise, Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland, will release for the Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC via Steam® on the 24th May 2019 across Europe. Atelier Lulua continues the story of the fan-favourite Arland trilogy, set several years after the 2012 release of Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland.
Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland invites players to assume the role of Elmerulia “Lulua” Fryxel, a young aspiring alchemist training under former student turned mentor, Piana. Lulua studies diligently to fulfil her dream of becoming a great alchemist just like her mother, Rorolina Frixell; but during her training Lulua discovers a mysterious Codex, awakening an ancient power within her that enables Lulua to decrypt but a single page – with many more riddles for her to unravel. Players will be tasked with performing actions focused around the core Atelier series gameplay – Gathering, Battle, and Synthesis – to allow them to decipher more of the text, as well as learn exciting new types of alchemy.
Lulua sets off to Arland in the hopes that she can improve her powers and uncover the riddles of the Codex. When arriving, she learns that her mother’s atelier shop has been forced to close. Relying on the help of the Codex, Lulua works hard to save the shop before it’s too late. The first steps into her new adventure are filled with excitement, but little does Lulua know that Arland is home to many mysteries yet to be awoken.
On their journey, players will meet a compelling cast of companions, with some familiar faces joining the line-up, including: the most renowned alchemist and mother of Lulua, Rorolina Frixell; the ex-apprentice of Rorona and influential alchemist, Totooria Helmold; keen adventurer and private guardian of Totori, Mimi Houllier Von Schwarzlang; and former knight turned chief of the ‘Guardian Force’, Sterkenburg Cranach.
As another addition you can check out a new heart-warming trailer just below:
Atelier Lulua will also be launching on the Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

During today’s Samurai Warriors 15th Anniversary Live broadcast, Koinuma-san spent much time going over the Samurai Warriors series of games, including playing all four major entries of the series.
Koinuma-san also discussed briefly about the upcoming still unannounced Samurai Warriors 5, while no proper reveal has been made, we do have some concrete information on the title itself. Right now Samurai Warriors 5 is in the “Trial and Error” phase of development, where they are testing and playing around with mechanics to see what works well and how they want to take the series.
KOEI Tecmo have also confirmed via the broadcast that an official reveal for the game may not be ready until sometime in 2020. However there was a little bit of hope that it might happen this year. Aside from all that, development has been progressing smoothly and Koinuma-san hopes you will look forward to when they can finally show it off to the public.
As a reminder they also wanted to push once more that Samurai Warriors 4 DX is releasing March 14th on PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan.
What do you hope to see in Samurai Warriors 5? Are you excited for the eventual reveal? Let us know in those comments!
The game is looking pretty great. However there is still no news if this title will be making its way to the West, you can import the game for either console due to them being region free. This title unlike Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet won’t be receiving an English language version in Asia.
The game itself launches March 14th for both Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan.
What are your thoughts on Samurai Warriors 4 getting the DX treatment? Do you hope to see it come West? Let us know in those comments!
