KOEI Tecmo trademarks three new Warriors titles in Japan!

At the end of July, KOEI Tecmo Japan had put in for three new trademarks for Warriors titles. The three titles in question are Isekai Musou (Other World Warriors), Gakuen Warriors (Academy Warriors) and Tensei Musou (Reincarnation Warriors).

No information on what these titles are aside from obviously Warriors titles has been revealed at present, so everything will be speculation for now until KOEI Tecmo officially reveal the titles or there is a future Famitsu reveal.

An additional note is that Tensei Musou is unlikely to be related to Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei series, as the trademark would be under Atlus/Sega, and not KOEI Tecmo.

Additionally to the aforementioned three Warriors titles, KOEI Tecmo also trademarked the term “Musou Play” and “Musou Mode”. What these could be is anyone’s guess. Perhaps a new subscription service or something akin to the ever popular VR Sense?

KOEI Tecmo confirms Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV for the West!

It was only a couple days ago that Famitsu announced Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV’s existence, and now KOEI Tecmo has confirmed that grand strategy title will be arriving in the West early next year.

As also announced in it’s first reveal, the Western version will be arriving on both PS4 and PC via Steam. You can read below the official description of the game:

The latest iteration of the classic tactical series is once again set during the fall of the Han Dynasty in ancient China; where battles take place in a boundary-free scramble for land. The game’s map showcases the territory captured and the thrill of expansion using a simplified colour system—paying homage to the original Romance of the Three Kingdoms, released on PC back in 1985. Everything from war to diplomatic affairs will be geared toward managing and gathering land as players attempt to spread their strategies at will across the vast China map.

In addition, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV will adopt the ruler-based system from Romance of the Three Kingdoms IX and Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI in order to help return classic gameplay to the series. This means that all actions—from domestic, to political, to battle—will now take place on a single map. Greater individuality among characters will also be on display; with officers from the Three Kingdoms, like Liu Bei and Guan Yu, asserting themselves at various situations in order to fully immerse players into the game’s rich history. But that’s not all, as a new Evolved Artificial Intelligence system is also being implemented to challenge players across repeated playthroughs. With organizations now determined through each ruler’s ideals, different game experiences are now possible via different rulers. Even within the same faction; different policies now bring with them different strategies for expansion, making the wise use of various officers a cornerstone of advanced gameplay.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV announced and will arrive in Japan later this year!

Coming straight out of this week’s Famitsu, KOEI Tecmo have revealed that Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV will be arriving Winter 2019 in Japan. Not much has been shown of the title though it has currently been confirmed for Playstation 4 and PC.

Below you can read the details shared via Famitsu:

One Big Map Where Multiple Scenes Occur

–“Lord-like gameplay,” where both Domestic commands and battles occur on the same map, is being deepened.
–The game will progress by plotting / cycling through the “strategy phase,” in which you instruct Domestic and military commands, and the “advance phase,” in which those instructions are put into effect.

New Element: “War Front”

–All of China is divided into small divisions (HEX), and each division becomes a basis of income for each faction.
–A division can be obtained by simply occupying it with your troops, and there is no requirement of conquering cities.
–When attacking enemies, you can also utilize tactics such as breaking its connection with cities to cut off logistics.

More Than 1,000 Officers: The Highest in the Series Yet

–There are officers that may ignore the player’s commands.
–There are active officers who will not only await a command, but propose their own.
–Even an officer with low stats is unique, and no officer is just a placeholder.

Configure the “Governments” of Each faction

–By setting officers on the organization chart, you can obtain various effects and special commands.
–The configuration of an organization chart will change depending on the ideology of the ruler.

Monster Rancher reboot arriving sometime this year in Japan!

Monster Farm (known as Monster Rancher in the West) was first released back in 1997 for the Playstation. Now KOEI Tecmo has announced that a reboot of the game is in development and will be arriving sometime this year in Japan.

It wasn’t long ago that KOEI Tecmo brought Monster Rancher back to the limelight with opening a new Twitter account dedicated to the series. Now seems to be the time we start to see the fruits of their labour.

Though not much is known for the title, there is a Teaser Site for the game. It is also to be noted that the game is classed as a Digital only adventure right now, which could also mean it is a mobile title or purely digital only release for console. No platforms have been confirmed as of time of writing.

More news will be inbound as we venture further into the year, and we will report anything that appears.

Loki joins the crew as free DLC for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3!

We have known for a while now that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was going to receive post release DLC support with it’s Expansion Pass. Though to what is a very nice surprise we are also starting to see free content updates arriving as well. As of the launch of the game (19th July worldwide), Loki is now a free addition to the already large Marvel cast list.

It has also been confirmed that more characters are in the pipeline to arrive as free DLC, with now confirmed X-men stars Cyclops and Colossus as the first to arrive on August 30th worldwide.

The first Expansion Pass pack “Marvel Knights” is planned to arrive sometime during Fall 2019. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
