It has been quite some time since we have heard of any new game release news from KOEI Tecmo, especially when it comes to their Western market. With seemingly still no news on the upcoming title Samurai Warriors 5, and Fairy Tail almost out of the door we haven’t known what KOEI Tecmo would launch next.
Now KOEI Tecmo have announced (via the Japanese Nintendo mini direct partner showcase) that Atelier Ryza 2 ~Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy~ will be launching worldwide this Winter for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. A first ever for the Atelier series where we see a returning protagonist in the lead role yet again, Ryza 2 takes place after the events of the first game.
A full official reveal is set to happen on July 29th, along with it’s official English site and more news on what the game will offer. But until then you can enjoy our game page for the title linked below!

Atelier Ryza ~Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout~ launched on 26th September in Japan, and what a wonderful week it was for KOEI Tecmo and Gust. During it’s launch week – according to a report by Wall-Street Journal – Atelier Ryza has reached over 150,000 sales in Japan on both PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
This is an amazing feat and the strongest launch the 22-year-old Atelier series has ever seen. Hopefully this means more big things are coming from Gust, considering they recently announced their first ever collaboration project last month.

It wasn’t long ago that Atelier Ryza was announced, and now we have a Western release set in stone for you all to get excited about. This will mark the third Atelier title to release in this year alone, and sounds to be a completely new series of titles.

You can read the official description of the game below:
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout begins an all-new storyline arc in GUST Studios’ fan-favourite Atelier series. The beautiful role-playing game follows the exploits of teenage tomboy Ryza, who dreams of escaping her mundane village lifestyle alongside her band of mischievous friends. One day, as they explore a forbidden island in search of adventure, they meet an elderly magician who will change their lives forever. After some convincing, the old man begins teaching Ryza the enchanting ways of alchemy, launching her on an adventure that will ultimately lead her on a quest to save her hometown from the mysterious and deadly darkness lurking beneath the surface.
In order to showcase the vibrant environments surrounding Ryza, GUST Studios instituted more realistic shadows, giving birth to a world that feels more expansive and filled with life. In addition, the fantastical depictions of the game’s colourful characters continue, pushing the series forward with a mix of both new and familiar visual sparkle.
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout also introduces RPG fans to an all-new evolved synthesis program that enables alchemists to better understand the effects of synthesis visually. Additionally, the system allows everyone to not only enjoy the experience of developing recipes, but the ability to use the innovative creation system to gather items in the field using various tools — different tools uncover different items at the same location — before crafting unique items never before seen in the series.

A couple days ago Atelier Ryza was announced via the Dangeki Playstation Magazine, the latest instalment to the ever growing Atelier Series from Gust. It was initially announced for Playstation 4 (as coming from a Playstation magazine), but now we have a more formal announcement of the game from Famitsu.
Atelier Ryza is a new coming of age story that focuses on a new world construction method through expression. The title is being written by Gust and Shakugan no Shana manga creator Yashichiro Takahashi.
Ryzalin Staud (the titular character) is a free willing girl who is always looking for excitement with her friends. She has a very strong sense of justice to the point arrogance if she thinks she is in the right. The story is about her finding something dear that she never knew was until she became an Alchemist and met a “certain someone”.
The game will also be launching on PS4 and Nintendo Switch this Fall in Japan, with a PC release to follow soon after. We will likely hear later in the year about it’s Western release, which will likely be early 2020.
