Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet is getting a Free-to-Play version on Switch in later part of 2019!

Thanks to the recent Dead or Alive festival we have been given a bevy of news related to the franchise. With Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet being announced for PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan, we now also have news that a free-to-play version of the game will be arriving on the Switch later on after the initial release.

The free-to-play version will play similarly to how Venus Vacation works. Alongside information of a Free-to-play version for Nintendo Switch arriving, there is also news on exclusive features for the Nintendo Switch edition. The main feature focused is “Soft 4D”, which is heavily reliant on the Soft Engine and the Nintendo Switch’s HD rumble functionality. The Switch edition also boasts 900p in TV mode, 720p in handheld and a locked 30 frames-per-second.

As for the Scarlet edition as a whole, it will offer various game tweaks such as being able to level up as an owner far easier, as well as an easier accumulation of the game’s currency Zack Money. Also alongside Misaki being a new character, there is yet another unannounced character that will be coming with the Scarlet edition (NiCO perhaps?). Scarlet will also include full VR support (requiring a “VR Passport”) just as the original game does on PS4.

Team Ninja have also confirmed that both Misaki and the unannounced character will be available as paid DLC for the original version of the game later after release.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet will be releasing March 20th 2019 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan. As we said before, it is unlikely it will receive a western release due to how the original game was cancelled, but it will be region free on both platforms with (hopefully) the same English support.

Two veteran fighters return to Dead or Alive 6 alongside newcomer NiCO!

More news to come from the Dead or Alive festival, this time in the form of a new trailer and a brand new character reveal. Let’s introduce everyone to NiCO, and you can read her full bio below:

NiCO Biography:

NiCO, known as “The Lightning Technomancer” is a practitioner of Pencak Silat, a historic martial art of Southeast Asia. The frenetic fighter employs powerful plasma discharges in her attacks, boosting her Pencak Silat strikes to another level, while at the same time using her EMF Rings to move at ultrahigh rates of speed. But that’s not all; as NiCO is also a genius scientist entrusted with Donovan’s secret M.I.S.T. development project. Despite her youthful appearance, she provides a genuine threat to the ninjas with her sharp, analytical mind and her natural sense for martial arts.

Along with NiCO’s reveal, both Kokoro and La Mariposa, both of Dead or Alive 4 fame have returned to the fray. For those who don’t know you can read their bios below:

Kokoro Biography:

Joining NiCO in Dead or Alive 6 is the latest reveal is Helena’s half-sister, Kokoro. A master of Ba Ji Quan, Kokoro uses a combination of elbow and palm thrusts to compliment an array of throws aimed at destroying her opponent’s balance. Graceful, yet powerful, Kokoro’s fighting style incorporates the hard and soft elements that represent the spirit she refines through her maiko training.

La Mariposa Biography:

Also returning to action is La Mariposa, a luchadora who excels at aerial attacks and is known as “The Immortal Butterfly”. Under the mask, the professional wrestler is really Lisa Hamilton – a former DOATEC researcher who at one time conducted experiments on the ninja Hayate. And although it was rumored that she had retired after the 5th Tournament, La Mariposa is back, deadlier than ever.

Dead or Alive 6 comes out February 15th 2019 worldwide for PS4, XB1 and PC via Steam.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet is coming to PS4 and Switch next year! …in Japan

Dead or Alive Festival has just happened and during it KOEI Tecmo announced a bunch of new things for the Dead or Alive franchise. Included in that was an announcement for an expanded version of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 for both Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet has everything the original Xtreme 3 offered and has so far announced to be including some content that arrived in the Free-to-play edition Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation, such as the new character Misaki.

The game will be releasing March 20th 2019, though it is very unlikely it will make it’s way to the western market. After the big media drama back in 2016 where KOEI Tecmo ended up pulling the planned release of the PS4 and Vita title, we can’t expect to see it suddenly arrive again now. However a good thing to note is the original PS4 Asian edition has fully supported English language, and if that continues to the Scarlet edition you’ll be able to import it no problem thanks to both PS4 and Switch being region free!

Playstation Plus Double Discounts has an awful lot of KOEI Tecmo titles on Sale in Europe!

KOEI Tecmo and Playstation generally go hand in hand when it comes to game releases, and right now in Europe there is a Playstation Plus Double Discounts sale going on for a miriad of titles on PS4. Double Discounts sales mean that you’ll save double if you are a Playstation Plus member, while just a regular sale price for those who aren’t. You can see the full list of titles below:

New Romance of the Three Kingdoms secures a release date for the end of November!

New Romance of the Three Kingdoms finally has a set release date, while it has been said to be November for a while now – the developers (BBGame) have now announced the game will be arriving November 26th on both the Google Play Store and App Store worldwide.

For those who aren’t in the know, New Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a reworked version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI, updated for mobile devices along with being brought into an MMO setting. It will be a free-to-play title, so anyone can just pick it up and give it a go.

The game does look quite interesting and prior licensed KOEI Tecmo titles such as Dynasty Warriors Unleashed and Legend of CaoCao have been rather entertaining games, so this does look like one to have some fun with!
