Ninja Gaiden 2 arrives on XBOX One through it’s Backwards Compatibility program!

In the current generation of gaming, Microsoft has made a big push in supporting Backwards Compatibility with it’s XBOX One console, adding new titles you can play often on a weekly basis as well as allowing you to purchase the game through their digital store.

Now KOEI Tecmo and Microsoft have partnered up to release the original Ninja Gaiden 2 for the XBOX 360 onto the XBOX One console. If you have the game already physically you can now stick it in your XBOX One and play it without hassle, or if you have yet to experience the game you can purchase a copy off of it via their digital store. To top it all, the game also boasts XBOX One X Enhanced experience, so if you have the juggernaut X console, you can enjoy it in a far improved state!

Along with the release of the XBOX One Backwards Compatible version of the game, you can also purchase all the DLC that was originally released for the game including costume packs and the Mission Mode.

Mind you this may not have all the extra bells and whistles the Sigma 2 edition received, but it does have the full gore and spectacle that creator Tomonobu Itagaki originally envisioned for the title.

Ninja Gaiden 2 digitally is priced at £24.99/$29.99, so it may be worth waiting on a sale for it, or simply picking up a physical copy cheaper from various retail outlets. The game definitely is a satisfying stylistic action romp, and well recommended in this form – even without the Sixaxis 16 year old girl jiggling and added content of the Sigma 2 edition.

What else would you like to see from KOEI Tecmo to hit XBOX One backwards compatibility list? Have you played Ninja Gaiden 2 before? Let us know in those comments!

Back at last year’s The Game Awards, Nintendo snuck out a surprise that nobody was expecting. Revealed was Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch, being co-developed by KOEI Tecmo and Team Ninja.

Now that Summer is getting ever closer, we now have an official release date for when the game will be coming out! The game itself will launch July 19th worldwide in both physical and digital forms. Enjoy some Marvel Superhero co-op fun anytime anywhere!

You can find the full information of the game via Nintendo below:

In the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order game, you’ll assemble your ultimate team of Marvel Super Heroes from a huge cast, including the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men, among many others.

While iconic characters like Iron Man, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Hulk and Captain America are back, newly announced heroes like Black Panther, Deadpool, Spider-Gwen and Doctor Strange also join the action, each with individual abilities or special moves.

In this new story, Super Heroes unite in a race across iconic locations in the Marvel Universe to find the Infinity Stones before Thanos and The Black Order use them to unleash cosmic chaos. Up to four people can play together in local* or online** co-op, with the ability to drop in and out at any time.

“Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order brings gamers and Marvel fans together in a new action RPG exclusive to Nintendo Switch,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “With a huge cast of Super Heroes to choose from, assembling your ultimate team, strategically combining skills to unleash powerful attacks and preventing galactic devastation with friends has never been more fun or immersive.”

“Teaming up with Nintendo to bring Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order to the Nintendo Switch system elevates the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series to even greater heights,” said Jay Ong, Executive Vice President at Marvel Entertainment. “With the ability to play at home or on the go, solo, co-op and online with friends, Marvel fans can save the world from Thanos and high stakes threats in any way they like, anytime, anywhere.”

Will you be picking up Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 this July? Let us know in those comments!

Last week Dynasty Warriors 9 received a major Spring update that added a whole bunch of quality of life improvements including new Bodyguard and Animal Companion systems. Now along with this patch update, a Daily Bonus Campaign has now started underway.

Running from April 4th until May 18th, each day you play the game will grant you different bonuses such as increased gold or increased synthesis yields. It also looks like these bonuses will change things up every so many days also.

The current bonuses you can find below:

DYNASTY WARRIORS 9 DAILY CAMPAIGN BONUS

Monday – Increased gold, increased effectiveness of “Tranquilizer Arrows”.
Tuesday – Increased experience, increased effectiveness of “Tranquilizer Arrows”.
Wednesday – Additional material drops, increased effectiveness of “Tranquilizer Arrows”.

It’s not very often we get to put out new coverage for Dynasty Warriors 9, but here we are Spring 2019 – just over a year from it’s initial launch back in February 2018, and KOEI Tecmo has pushed out a big Spring Update, free for all players of the game!

For those of you still playing or have been waiting for a reason to get back into the game, but are unsure on about purchasing the rather expensive DLC packs (expect a Warriors’s Judgement on this soon). Now may be the time to gather your fellow Warriors and head back out into the open world of China!

The update itself includes the following:

DYNASTY WARRIORS 9 v1.27 (PS4) / v1.24 (Steam)

–Added BGM from Previous DYNASTY WARRIORS series.
–Added new emotes.
–Added an animal companion system.
–Added a bodyguard system.
–Added new modes “Rampage” to the Arena.
–Made Improvements to Castle Sieges.
–Added animals to the gallery.
–Corrected a number of other minor issues.

The XB1 version of the game should also now have the update as of time of writing.

As you can see, there is quite a lot to dig your teeth into. Not only do we just have update notes, KOEI Tecmo have also gone into detail on what some of these new systems entail. Now animals will be able to develop as they fight alongside you, with varying degrees of differences on how each animal will develop uniquely. Though to also add to this, if your animal happens to fall in battle, then they are permanently dead. You can also spend upgrade points on developing your animals even further, increasing their abilities on the field of combat.

Alongside the new integrated animal companion system, there is the bodyguard system. You can now invite a fellow officer to join you as an AI companion either by finding them in town or inviting them to your hideaway. You will also have the choice to swap their weapons and accessories. There are two categories of bodyguards, “Attack” type and “Defense” type, so pick which fits your fighting style best!

That’s all there is for this update, but it’s good to see the ol’ girl is still kicking, even if the game suffered a dreadful launch. Certainly now, even still with it’s quirks and oddities, the content is finally here for us to dabble in.

Are you glad Dynasty Warriors 9 is still getting free updates? What else do you hope to see added in future ones? Let us know in those comments!

Our Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists Early Game Impressions!

Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists is a spin-off to the standard Atelier series in celebration of it’s 20th Anniversary. Bringing tons of fan favourite characters along with characters you may have forgotten all into one mini-universe that focuses on the adventures of the titular Nelke. We want to quickly add this is Impressions from early game, and it is for the Nintendo Switch edition of the game.

Let’s get right off the bat that this is a spin-off, and does have it’s own unique play style and design. It doesn’t play like the normal Atelier experience you have become accustomed to, but that definitely isn’t a detriment to it. If anything, the changes and design choices fit the series for the better, especially with the game’s focus on Town Management over Alchemy based adventuring.

The game starts off with Nelke and her maid Misty walking towards a new region and town known as Westbald. You find out that Nelke has been assigned by her father to become the town’s new Governor. When you first make your way into town (note all this is done in cutscene form) you meet the current village chief; Kunos – a young man who had the village dumped on him by his early retiring father. Kunos will be your go-to man for all general essentials for the village.

Kunos guides you to your place of operations, which is a lavish mansion upon a hill. From there you get put into full hand holding mode to teach you how to play the game. Most of the game is spent in menus and simulation style play. You are given a plot of land with various space to construct and play buildings. You first start off making a general store for veteran character Pamela. You also soon find out that you can head on out and Investigate varying regions outside of the village. This enables you to seek ingredients and materials to further develop your town.

When you go on these investigations you will be put in a walking simulated cutscene, where every now and then your party will stop and find search spots. You have no control aside from the option to “run” which will allow your characters to reach the end faster, but in return you will skip over possible search spots. When you do get given full control, it is when a random battle appears, where you will then go into your typical Atelier style Turn-based combat. This is the usual really, you pick your attack options, after each attack you grow your power gauge in which you can then spend on special attacks. These stack from battle to battle which is handy to prepare for future possibly tougher battles.

When you reach your goal, or your investigation time ends you return back to the town and get a report on what your findings were. Once you have learned these actions you will come across an Alchemist, who happens to be from the Atelier Marie games. Marie is here investigating a local suspicious rumoured Tree, which Nelke is also investigating similar things. They decide to team up and Marie settles in to your town – but for this to be the perfect match you decide to build her an Atelier to call her own.

A familiar face has been your go-to construction guy, who has been handling all your buildings and improvements. It’s none other than Hagel, the often Blacksmith of the Atelier series. You give him materials you need and he will construct the building you desire. After so many days (turns) pass the building will be fully constructed.

Now with the Atelier up, and general shop you can start properly developing your town. Alchemy can be used to create basic items or anything that you come up with. You can then sell them off at the General Store or use them to help with investigations or even for further town development.

You have your town ready in it’s base form now, and you start to get given your own free control of the game. It really is a different kind of beast this game in comparison to it’s other entries in the series. Though it seems like you are watching more things happening rather than personally controlling it yourself, but it suits the style of game that is definitely more like a Town Management Sim than your typical JRPG. Though there are a few hiccups, like it is odd that odd points within talking cut-scenes certain lines of dialog won’t be voiced. We have been really enjoying it so far, and hope that you don’t overlook the game for the next proper Atelier game arriving later in the year. We give this a big thumbs up of approval!
