The Dead or Alive 6 Playstation 4 Online Beta is now live!

For all you Playstation 4 players out there with an active Playstation Plus subscription, you can now access the PS4 Beta for Dead or Alive 6. The Beta is live from now until Monday 14th January, so be sure to give it a go if you want to get your tournament fighting on!

KOEI TECMO Europe and Team NINJA are excited to announce the official launch of the PlayStation®4 DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Online Beta Test. The Online Beta will be exclusive to PS PLUS subscribers through the PlayStation Store, and will be playable from the 11th January 2019 beginning at 15:00 GMT and run until the 14th January 2019 at 14:59 GMT.

The Beta will consist of Online Versus mode and will feature four iconic characters from DOA’s past, including Kasumi, Ayane, Hayate, and Hayabusa, as well as one of the most-anticipated newcomers to the roster, “The Uncrowned Street Hero” Diego. All fights will take place on the main stage of the DEAD OR ALIVE 6 tournament — the DOA COLOSSEUM – complete with exploding ring ropes.

There is a fair amount available to test out, and will be good for KOEI Tecmo to get the game tested for balancing and server capacity. There is no news if/when the Beta will arrive for XB1 or PC via Steam.

Dead or Alive 6 will be releasing 1st March for PS4, XB1 and PC via Steam.

KOEI Tecmo Japan put a new trademark down for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z in the US

Last week KOEI Tecmo Japan put in a trademark for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, the illegitimate child of the Ninja Gaiden franchise. Now ordinarily this is business as normal, as when trademarks run out a company will often renew it to keep control over the title. However what makes this one special is that KOEI Tecmo Japan has never renewed a trademark for any title or series they didn’t soon after announce something for it.

So what could this mean for us gamers? It may be we could be in for an upcoming announcement of a port of Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z to PS4/XB1/Switch, just a Switch port (as they have been dumping a lot of their back catalogue onto the system), a sequel to the game or even as something simple as a re-release on the Windows platform.

As for you guys and girls that are unaware, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is a spin-off to the Ninja Gaiden series that focuses on new protagonist Yaiba, who has to battle his way through a bunch of zombies to get revenge on Ryu Hayabusa. The game wasn’t developed in-house like the first three games, and was outsourced to Comcept (lead by Keiji Inafune of Mighty Number 9…uh fame, which is why you also get a MN9 skin in the game). The title was critically panned as a basic button masher with instant death quick time scenarios. Our opinion on it is that it isn’t that great of a game either, just a simple cash in on the (at time of release in 2014) popular Zombie gaming scene.

Only time will tell what this trademark leads to later in 2019.

Dead or Alive 6 get’s it’s worldwide release pushed back to March

Some sad news has surfaced for those that are excited for Team Ninja’s upcoming fighter Dead or Alive 6, which was originally scheduled to release February 15th. KOEI Tecmo and Team Ninja have announced the game is being pushed back to March 1st citing they want to polish the game more before release.

You can read their full statement below:

“The title’s development is already near complete; however, we would like to take more time to further polish its balance, gameplay, and expressivity. In return for your patience, we commit to bringing you the best DEAD OR ALIVE gaming experience,” said Yohei Shimbori, the game’s Producer and Director. “I am truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the release delay of DEAD OR ALIVE 6.”

This is certainly the better option to pick then release the game when it isn’t ready just to meet a deadline, so hopefully this polish pays off in the end.

Dead or Alive 6 is releasing for Playstation 4, XBOX One and PC via Steam.

Winning Post 9 secures itself an official release date in Japan

It wasn’t too long ago that KOEI Tecmo made a dramatic lead up to announce their next official instalment to their horse racing simulation series; Winning Post 9. A series that is madly popular in Japan but however isn’t seen the same outside of the region. Known as G1 Jockey / Champion Jockey in the West, this is the first time KOEI Tecmo has released a new numbered title in the series for some time (with 8 just getting yearly updates with the year in question tacked on).

Now KOEI Tecmo Japan have announced that the title will be releasing on March 14th, arriving alongside Samurai Warriors 4 DX. As with the latter no news of any western localisation has come to be, but due to it being region free it will be importable for those who really want to scratch that horse racing itch.

Winning Post 9 releases in Japan for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

The official Dead or Alive 6 pre-order roadmap!

With how the game industry is nowadays, there are always numerous different editions, platform releases and special goodies tied to them. Though not to the extreme levels of an average Ubisoft release, KOEI Tecmo are doing the same with their upcoming fighter Dead or Alive 6. We mentioned a little while back what Pre-order incentives will be available for Dead or Alive 6, but for those who are unsure or confused with which edition gives what, don’t fret KOEI Tecmo America have provided a simple roadmap to follow.

So hopefully this will now clear any confusion there is, and can get the bonus you want with your pre-order. Though keep in mind all of these bonuses will be available as DLC eventually.
