On Wednesday, Square-Enix broadcast a livestream for their upcoming title Dragon Quest Builders 2. During the broadcast (which you can view fully below) they announced that KOEI Tecmo was working with them on improving the ‘action segments’ of the game.
For those who don’t know, Dragon Quest Builders series is a mix of RPG and Mincraft-style crafting/building.
This isn’t the first time KOEI Tecmo has worked alongside Square-Enix, with their most recent partnership being Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT. They have also worked on the Dragon Quest Heroes titles.
What have KOEI Tecmo actually been doing within this game however? It looks like they have been working on the actual combat mechanics within the game, which the first game fell short with. Making the game much more fluid in this department. Along with all this news Square-Enix announced that the game will be releasing December 20th 2018 in Japan, while a 2019 release scheduled for the West.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be releasing for Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
What are your thoughts on KOEI Tecmo being involved with this games development? Would you like to see KT do more similar partnerships? Let us know in those comments!
