The Dynasty Warriors movie launched all the way back in April in China, and now, from 1st July you will be able to watch the movie via Netflix. Being featured across numerous regions (including United States, Europe, United Kingdom, Asia and more), you can now check out the struggle of the Oath brothers facing the tyrant Dong Zhuo.
Also interesting to note is that the movie offers various dubs (including English and original Cantonese), as well as numerous subtitle languages. You can view the official trailer from Netflix below:

It has been a very long time since we last heard anything about the upcoming China produced Dynasty Warriors live action movie, though now that silence has finally been broken. Dynasty Warriors: Destiny of an Emperor (which finished all the way back in 2019) will be launching in Chinese cinemas on April 29th. The following day April 30th it will be arriving on various digital services throughout China.
There is currently no information on the movie receiving an English localisation (though the company is known to offer some), however it is quite likely to find some decent fan subs and such if it doesn’t come to pass.
You can check out the latest trailer for the movie here:
The movie focuses on the rise of the three Oath Sworn brothers Liu Bei, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu as they fight through the Yellow Turban menace all the way up to a final climatic battle against Lu Bu. You can find out more about the movie via our previous posts here and here!

It has been a while since we have been able to make any sort of update on the anticipated Chinese live action adaptation of Dynasty Warriors. But now we finally have a bit more to share on it. As mentioned back at the tail end of last year, Dynasty Warriors: Destiny of an Emperor is still scheduled for a 2019 release. This hasn’t changed and production has been going along smoothly.
So good in fact that the film is now fully finished. Production ended on the film earlier in the year, so this news means we will be seeing it hit Hong Kong cinemas hopefully in the near future. No news has risen about the title being delayed so you should still expect it’s 2019 planned release.
As well as knowledge of the production being finished and it’s release going forward, some interesting bits of trivia have popped up. It took them three years to convince KOEI Tecmo to give them the green-light to make start production of the movie (which started in 2016). Justin Cheung (plays Zheng Fei) had to gain 15 pounds specifically to play his role, and Louis Koo (plays Lu Bu) had a severe eye injury on set, requiring 8 stitches.
So yes, this may not be the biggest of news, but it is great to know that everything has gone along fine, the actors who got into mishaps are all fine, and the movie should be ready to launch sometime this year in Hong Kong theatres.

It’s certainly looking quite good, and flashy. Though we won’t know how much substance there is to this style until we can actually see it for ourselves. Dynasty Warriors: Destiny of an Emperor is planned to release in Hong Kong sometime during 2019.
For those who missed it before, you can reacquaint yourself with the film’s trailer below:
