This isn’t the first time that KOEI Tecmo has released free content for it’s phenomenal grand-strategy game, with previous additions being CG art sets (characters pretty much) and a Scenario revolved around the Cao clan splitting. Now though you can enjoy another free scenario, a fictional one based on the events of Dong Cheng trying to organise Liu Bei and Ma Teng to free the Emperor from Cao Cao.

Nov. 199 The Han’s Loyal Retainers
In attempts to rescue Emperor Xian from Cao Cao, Dong Cheng, along with Ma Teng and Liu Bei, try to escape Xuchang with Emperor Xian. However, during the rescue mission, Ma Teng and Liu Bei are killed. Ma Chao takes lead of Ma Teng’s army, but is betrayed by Han Sui. And although Liu Bei’s army accompanies Emperor Xian, Zhang Fei’s location is yet unknown.
The scenario arrives alongside a new patch that fixes an assortment of bugs and balancing. The new scenario offers a few unique fictional twists, such as Zhang Fei having his own faction, and a what-if when Liu Bei has been completely removed from the picture.
This is just one more reason to dig your teeth back into Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV, especially during this time of lockdown.
