With the release of Fatal Frame V: Oracle of the Sodden Raven over the weekend in Japan, more information of the game has been revealed. There is a “Bonus Episode” that is to feature a crossover between Dead or Alive and Fatal Frame with the star studded lady Ninja Ayane taking the lead.

Here is the Story description:

Ayane is requested to find Tsumugi Katashina, who disappeared at the mountain. She (Ayane) uses her “purple thread” power to track down Tsugumi.

Since Ayane can’t defeat any ghosts, she needs to hide and sneak around to progress. She has a “script of hiding” that she can apply to her back to make herself invisible to ghosts. If she’s caught by a ghost, she can use the light of the Spirit Stone Torch to knock back and temporarily stun them.

After sneaking into an abandoned building, she is gravely wounded, but manages to flee.

It certainly feels out of place to see a titular character such as Ayane enter a more down to earth atmosphere filled with psychological horrors, but maybe it fits better then we think? The screenshots certainly suggest it is possible – but you be the judge!
